The Push

Gofox, 31 March 2021

The push consists of pushing the ball to make a pass or score on goal. It is the most common movement for short and medium distances, in all game contexts.

To do a push, the stick is held in Basic Grip, with the arms away from the body. The legs are slightly bent, with the back slightly forward. The ball is 50cm in front of you (stick/ground angle = 45°), between your legs.

The push movement comes first from moving towards the target, then from rotating the trunk and shoulders to push the ball towards the target. At the end of the movement, the stick must point towards the target.

The initial movement can be achieved by a “samba step” (cross-step), or a run with the shoulders directly towards the target.
